Championing Girls

Removing barriers and creating opportunities

Girls in Malawi face additional barriers to education, from poverty and early pregnancy to menstrual health challenges, safety concerns and limited opportunities to shape their futures.

Our girls’ programme provides more than access to school. We create a safe, supportive environment where girls can stay in education, build confidence and develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. Through mentoring, menstrual health support, careers guidance, leadership and life-skills programmes, we help girls overcome barriers and realise their potential.

Safe accommodation

For girls living far from school, the cost, distance and safety of travelling each day can make secondary education out of reach. Our safe, purpose-built accommodation provides MSP scholars with a secure and supportive place to live while they attend secondary school.

With dedicated female staff, nutritious meals, security and a supportive community of fellow students, girls have the stability they need to focus on their education, build confidence and thrive. By removing a practical barrier to staying in school, we are helping more girls complete their secondary education and realise their potential.

Mentorship & Motivation Sessions

Every girl deserves someone she can trust, talk to and turn to. Through our Girls Programme, girls have regular access to a dedicated female mentor who provides encouragement, guidance and a safe space to discuss the challenges they face.

From navigating adolescence and relationships to building confidence, setting goals and thinking about their future careers, our mentorship programme helps girls feel supported, valued and empowered to make positive choices about their lives.

Menstrual health & dignity

Periods should never be a reason for a girl to miss school. We provide girls with access to menstrual products alongside practical education about menstrual health, helping them manage their periods safely, confidently and without embarrassment.

By removing this simple but significant barrier, we help girls stay in school, participate fully in their education and feel confident in their everyday lives.
